Rouge-Roubaix
Randy Legeai, 3/9/08
I looked down at the computer. 20 miles. With the first dirt section at around 24 miles, I knew it was time to make my way closer to the front. This was no easy task, of course, since the pack was basically ditch-to-ditch and lots of others had the same idea. Slowly I worked my way toward the front and hit the dirt in a pretty good spot, somewhere within the front twenty or so, I guess. With two turns each lap that usually required brakes and subsequent out-of-the-saddle accelerations, it turned out to be a much harder course than I had anticipated, as evidenced by the fact that none of the races finished with big pack sprints.
